How Solar Panels Work (Simple Explanation)


 Solar panels work by converting sunlight into electricity that can be used in homes and businesses. The process is simple and clean, making solar energy one of the best renewable power sources.

Solar panels are made up of small units called solar cells. These cells are usually made from silicon. When sunlight hits the solar cells, it creates an electric current. This process is known as the photovoltaic effect.

The electricity produced by solar panels is direct current (DC). Since most homes use alternating current (AC), the electricity passes through a device called an inverter, which converts DC power into usable AC power.

Once converted, the electricity is used to run lights, appliances, and other electrical devices. If the solar system produces more energy than needed, the extra power can be stored in batteries or sent back to the grid, depending on the system setup.
